The Jay Taylor Memorial

Karaoke Against Cancer

UPDATE:

May 30, 2018 -- The 1st Annual Jay Taylor Memorial Karaoke Against Cancer was a smash hit! With 24 performances it seemed the fun would never end but when the last singer exited the stage and the donations were totaled, we had raised over $2000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! Thank you to all our amazing participants, donors and sponsors! You can still donate to the cause here:

We also had the chance to gather as friends of Jay and remember just a few of the reasons he was one-of-a-kind. Plans for the 2nd Annual event will begin in January with a planned April date around his birthday, April 17th. Stay tuned for updates...

About Jay Taylor

(April 17, 1974 - March 28, 2013)

Jay was a dedicated marathoner who served as a coach, trainer, and team captain for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. He completed five marathons with Team in Training, raising nearly $13,000 for cancer research. In 2012 he helped put on the very first Karaoke Against Cancer fundraiser which was a raucous and wild success.

Soon after that event Jay, a non-smoker and not even 40-years-old,  was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, proving how indiscriminate this horrible disease really is. Sadly, less than a year later he passed away, but his legacy continues with Team Jay raising funds for cancer research through Team In Training, and now the Jay Taylor Memorial Karaoke For Cancer.

Needless to say, Jay was an avid karaoke fan with an impressive falsetto! He combined his love of entertaining with the desire to help others to brilliantly create the very memorable first Karaoke for Cancer fundraiser. Few will forget his performance of The Humpty Hump! In fact, Humpty Hump himself recorded a special video message of support to Jay during his fight with cancer!

Jay will always be remembered by his friends and family for his beautiful smile and infectious laugh, his exuberance for life, and his kind and generous spirit. He is forever missed.
